Just Yesterday Obama's Parents Poster
Regular price $20.00
Former President Barack Obama’s parents were legally married in Hawaii in 1961. But interracial marriage wasn’t legal in all states at that time. Just three years earlier, in 1958, Richard and Mildred Loving were actually thrown in jail in Virginia for interracial marriage. The couple sued the state of Virginia and took their case to the Supreme Court. They won by unanimous decision as the justices struck down all laws against interracial marriage in the United States. The case was “Loving vs. Virginia,” the year was 1967.
